HOW IT WORKS<\/h3>\n

Drive torque enters through the internal gear teeth of the hub on the driving shaft side, which mesh with the crowned external teeth of a floating intermediate sleeve. Because the sleeve teeth are barrel-shaped rather than straight, the sleeve can tilt fractionally as the coupled shafts shift relative to one another under load \u2014 the mechanical equivalent of a ball-and-socket joint operating at industrial torque levels. The outer sleeve, bolted between the two hub flanges, houses the grease reservoir and carries the integral brake drum on its outer circumference.<\/p>\n

When the thruster or shoe brake is applied, the drum surface is clamped directly.
